nah not double clutching... although thats what he's doing (pumpin the clutch twice). double clutching is used when down shifting to a lower gear.... in this case cause this is a little car with low hp whats going on is that to maintain a good drift the rear wheels have to be going faster than the fronts.
in a high power car you just put your foot flat and it'll spin the rear wheels up fine, but in a low powered car like the 86 the driver can put his foot flat but still the rear wheels won't spin cause the cars not got enough power. the driver "clutches" it like this by pumping the clutch like this to get the revs up high.... then he lets the clutch out fast and hopefully this shock of the engine doing 9000rpm and wanting to spin the rear wheels to say 100kph when the cars only doing 60kph is enough for it to break traction and carry on the drift....
the driver knows when to do this by a 'seat of the pants' type feeling where he can feel the angle of the slide decreasing and the car might start to straighten out, so pumping the clutch like this can help to maintain a longer drift

its harder to drift an underpowered car than a car with higher hp too... so its pretty awesome what this guy does... i have the vid on my computer its great....
like most of you i thought he was gonna crash, or the driver had died or something.

good discription

i think this kid knows his shit

yes double clutching is used to downshift... for people who cant shift clutchless or have no sincromesh... thats a common misconseption but this guy got it straight

above mentioned technique is called a clutch kick. im not a huge fan of using it myself but it will do the job none the less.

ohh gee wow thanks... i have a lot of drift footage on the computer, and i think 12 DVD's that feature a fair bit of it... and i'm starting to have a crack at some myself but i can't go much further cause i desperately need an LSD to make the slides a little more predictable and controllable... anyway, its all good fun.
when you watch the pro's drifting it seems to look straight forwards but its harder than i thought and takes a lot of guts to do. definately harder than it looks... but definately one of the most fun forums of motor sport around.
