i dont know much about turbos but it shouldnt. i didnt think the srt came with mufflers from factory. maybe im wrong on that. im sure someone with more knowlege will post

It'll just be all noise on a stock car if he replaces ONLY the downpipe.
I'd suggest replacing the "O2 housing" as well as the downpipe, and add in a highflow cat. It's not worth the 3-4HP gian of running without a cat vs gettign caught without one and paying the fines, fixing and having the car inspected, for not having it. |

Where I am from there is no emissions testing for months I got away with running headers and pipes straight out the back (no mufflers/cats) on my Nova (V8). Just a cat and resonator is all the Srt-4 Neons have for an exhaust.
