He was asked how much hp the the 60's era superbird needed to hit 200 mph.
As far as I know, it was mid 500 hp back in the day. Quote:

Disclaimer - I dont like NASCAR, but I can appreciate it.
Its a different kind of skillset required than F1. Yes, it appears simple because you are only turning one direction, but the oval layout means there is ALOT more passing required and the competition is much closer. With so many restrictions on the actual cars, the driver has more influence on the outcome rather than which team has the most money. The last time a driver won by more than a lap was 1994. More than 40% of cars finish on the lead lap, which shows how close the competition it is. There are races with 50 lead changes. How many lead changes happen in F1? 3? 4? In most cases, its the dominant team of a particular era that leads for the majority of the race. Its not my cup of tea, but what ppl find exciting about nascar (other than the crashes) is how hard fought a win is where the driver had to rely on his strategy/skill rather than who had the most r&d into their car to win in such a close race. |

nascar is a boring motor sport. thats pretty much a fact. in most countrys other then america IMOi like watching f1 as there are track all over the world. hence world championships. and there are some good battles or a proper race track.so when they do happen its good to watch.where in nacar like said its always changing. nothing great about that.i think. strokes for folks i guess

A) "hmm as they are use o braking lots?" that first sentence didnt make one ounce of sense. To quote Samual L Jackson in Pulp Fiction: "English, motherf_cker, do you speak it??"
B) No one here disagreed with the whether it was boring or not. just commenting on the skill required and how everything thinks its easy. If that were the case, which its not, any joe blow would be doing it. Id rather drive in circles and get paid millions than push a mouse for a living. Quote:

Its been 30 years since a road course winger (specialist from F1, le mans or other form of circuit racing hired specifically to race the road course events in nascar) has won a nascar road course event.
Dont tell me they are poor drivers, either. Ron Fellows is a multiple 24 hrs of Le Mans (pinnacle of endurance racing) and ALMS winner. |
