In the latest Super Street, there is an SRT-4 that threw 2 rods.

WOW nice vid. I personally would never buy the first or even the second model year of a new engin or drivetrain components, they really tend to blow (not literly except in this case). I only would buy the 3ed year that they are in production, that and I wouldent buy a dodge with a 4 banger, I have heard that they have had problems with their head gaskets sense '97 (every person that I know that has a '97 Dodge or Chrysler with a 2.0 or 2.4 has had to replace the head gasket and I know 12 people with cars with those motors in them!).

I love that fact that knowone has mentioned that the SRT-4 was close to 600hp and running near 25psi of boost when it blew. It blew because a spark plug fell apart during the run and shot a hole in the piston. It has nothing to do with the drivetrain being shit. The crank is rated for 900hp, internals close to 650hp. 2.0s yes did have headgasket problems up until 97 on 2.0 SOHC and DOHC motors. After that they were fixed with the updated headgasket, Once fixed with the MLS headgasket you will never have a problem agian. 2.4s never had a headgasket problem.

ok guys enough is enough. it doens't matter if its a neon or not...the guy had 600hp in the engine and thats what caused it to blow...
neons are a pretty decent car i owned 2 of them. 1 was a 98 which i never had a problem with brought it back cuz lease was over and then got me a 2001 which never had a problem with anything of it and drove harder with that car then i did my civic. and my civic i hit 185 almost every day. i have had more trouble with my civic head gasket problem then i have with my previously owned neon. so b4 you guys start ragging on a car learn some stuff about it. now shut it and learn that the car had 3x more horses then you have in your cars. probably even more. so shut it or i will shut you.

whew, thats an old video. That's Steve Anderson's first SRT where he was experimenting with a different turbo and the upper end of the engines capabilities.
I do believe he had it cranked to over 40psi on that run, pushing 600hp as mentioned before. All that on the stock engine. |

The, "Yeah but it's a neon.." How many other cars can I say that about... uhh damn near every single one but the supercars. Blowing stuff up, and breaking shit happens, it's part of racing. |
