if you are all pretty serious about religion, you should all ready the god delusions. i cant remember the name of the author right off the top of my head but it opens up your eyes and really gets you pissed off at the entire idea of a higher power.

as far as the physicist use of the term "god" or "religion" it should stop. they don't mean it in the literal or even broadest idea that we all are taught to believe. its just a word that they used because their book is filled with so much that they couldn't think of anything else to keep the readers interested and to sell their ideals as to how the universe works.

i guess all i could say is read the book and it will make more sense.

I believe that is Dawkins. A very agressive and forward thinking athiest author/speaker. Sometimes he pisses me off because he loses his cool but answering the same few non-specific questions to people who aren't going to change their minds anyways would piss me off too.

religion is just a book made to try and keep people in line and give them hope IMO.its just a good story.not that ive read a religion book.i took my self out of religion lessons at school.due to not believeing in some rag head mofos died to save us.. there are 100s of muslums blowing there self up trying to save people on there side of religon 2day also.lets write a book abou them kunts also.

When physicists talk about "god" for the most part they are talking about the universe as a living being. They don't mean god in the conventional organized religion sense. Science is the ability to rationally explain how our world works and to find answers to certain questions in a realistic manner.

U want my personal opinion....organized religion is for retards who do not grasp nature. People who believe in that crap are simply looking for answers you are not meant to comprehend until you die (maybe never) Religion is also a means of control, people throughout history have committed countless atrocities in the name of god (and are still doing so) It gives people a way to absolve themselves of terrible/horrendous deeds in the name of something "greater" or "good". Has it accomplished anything other than misery and suffering? If you look at the reality of our universe, our planet our bodies etc. you come to realize that we are organisms, nothing more....

Believe in yourself, believe in what can be accomplished by working together. Not the fake man/whatever in the sky....

I had a religious discussion with some friends recently, and the topic of "alternative" religions came up. Paganism, Modern Buddhism, Scientology, ect.

Its funny that the one of the religions thought of by the mainstream as "nutty" or "weird" is that which, at least of the major to semi-major religions, has the most basis on reality.....Wicca. HAHAHAHAHAH Christianity. Those odd-ball rennfest freaks praying to the trees have a greater grip on reality than you do.
