Default "Platoon" or "Full Metal Jacket"

Well which is the better Vietnam movie?

I Prefer "Full Metal Jacket" and think the first half during training is as funny as Fugg but i also love "Platoon" as it shows just how fugged up it was also and what people will do under pressure.

FMJ for me, as the drill instructor is right on. That is the best acting to properly see what a USMC drill instuctor looks like, acts like and says.

That is an insanely tough choice. Both were great but I think I'm leaning more towards Full Metal Jacket.

I never saw platoon but full metal jacket was great, I love when they talk about the helmets, I'm pretty sure there was a scene like that in apocalypse now. If you're a big fan of apoc now /NDA, you should read Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, the movie is based on it and I only actually started liking the movie after I started writing a paper on the two stories

its not acting... ron emery (the guy that plays the drill sergeant) really was an ex USMC drill instructor before becoming an actor!!!

He spent two years as a drill instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in San Diego, California, from 1965 to 1967. In 1968, Ermey arrived in Vietnam where he served for 14 months with the Marine Wing Support Group 17. He then served two tours of duty in Okinawa, Japan, during which he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was medically discharged in 1972 for several injuries incurred during his tours.
