CATS OR DOGS?

I own a cat but I would rather a dog....

Dogs, I own 2 of them. IMO cats are useless, unless you live on a farm and they stay in the barn to keep mice out. Otherwise cats are for chicks. Dogs can defend the home and the owner, let you know when someone is coming up to your house, they play fetch (mine do) and can to cool tricks when trained properly. dogs also poop outside the house, unlike cats who need a stinky litter box inside the house in which they walk in, take a crap, kick it around, then proceed to walk on your counter tops, pillows, couchs, even you. I don't like the fact that they walk in their piss and poop then want to walk all over the things we use.....yuk. Cats only come to you when they want to be petted or feed, unlike a dog who comes when they are called regaurdless of weather or not you have food or pet them. Cats can't defend a home from an intruder, don't let you know when someone has arrived at your house and they cough up hair balls...yuk...again. I hate cats if you can't tell. If you do let your cat outside the first thing they want to do is walk all over your freashly washed car = killed cat. Or they kill a bird or rabbit and leave it laying around the yard or front porch, any animal that just kills for fun = I kill it for fun.

Dogs are more human-like, but I adore cats...

At least they are able to take car of their own.

my buddys cats got out and ran way a few weeks ago one still hasnt came back

my dogs get out they come back when they are hungry

Not to mention, if you get a male cat w/ a bad attitude he will "spray" mark his territory inside the house, and you will NEVER get that smell out. Cats are good for one thing.......KICKING.

i like both, but I´ve always had dogs.

if you raise a cat from young it will more sociable with humans than a cat that is already grown when you take him in.

I´ve had them and like them alot, but ultimately I perfer a dog. when your down a dog will come and sit next to you and be more of a buddy than a cat, but cats are much more independent and I like that sort of individualism.


But if you have to make a distiction its like this: for a man animals divide in 2 categories:

Carnivors are pets - everything else is food

Dogs 100% for many of the reasons cited above. There have been countless cases of dogs saving owners from intruders, alerting them to fire, etc. On the other hand, useless cats always seem to put their owners in danger by getting stuck in trees or staying in the house while its burning down and making the owner come back in to save it.

My dog was supremely loyal and would die protecting me. A cat cares only about itself. Besides, its a bit limp wristed for a guy to own a cat.

Yes, they make a good pest removal animal on a farm. They are great hunters.

Cats can learn tricks, too. They are harder to train, cause they are very independent and intelligent. Cats can go outside, too. They also use a kitty litter box for when you can't let them out. Ever had to go out of town for a few days and leave your pets unattended? You can leave the cat inside, so long as it has food, water, and a litter box. The dog will have to sit outside, or it will piss, shit, and chew on everything. Cats don't eat their own shit/vomit/etc either, and then go lick your face. Plus dogs walk in their shit/piss everytime you let them outside (their litter box). And they roll in it, kick it up, pee on your house, bushes, car, etc. Which one is more sanitary?

Dogs are the same way, they are just more needy. All my cats come to me when I call them.

My mom has 3 dogs, a Great Pyrenesse (Spelling?), a gray healer (again, spelling?), and a Min-Pin. She was in the backyard with all 3 dogs BBQing, and a guy jumped the fence and attacked her. All the dogs wagged their tails while laying on their backs. All but the Min-Pin had been sent to obedience school and SUPPOSEDLY were trained to defend her. That is why she had them, now she has a gun.

Dogs FTW.

So the dog pissing on it is fine? And digging up your yard? And barking all night? Dogs kill things just for fun, they just aren't as good a hunter, so it isn't as often.

I like both, but prefer cats. Dogs are like having a 3yr old kid, cause you have to teach them everything, always keep an eye on them, and they can't take care of themselves. Cats are like girlfriends. They don't NEED you, they choose to be there based on how you treat them. If you treat them good, feed them, pet them, spoil them, and not insist that you are 100% of their world, they will stay. If you beat them, ignore them, or are just a prick, they will leave you.

Only cause they can't feed themselves. If they found a home where there was food and water sitting outside for them, I bet they wouldn't come back.

I have had cats my entire life (30yrs) and always had a male. I never had any of them fixed or declawed (until this Halloween, when I did fix my male cat, "Nickel Special" at the SPCA). I never had an issues with spraying. My wife was a dog person, and hated cats when I met her. Now she insists on holding it, and will take it from me so she can hold it. I had to get a 2d cat. She thought the same thing about the spraying and she has never smelled anything.

Not if you like your dog. A domestic animal that kills another domestic animal is a health threat and put down. This includes killing stray cats and/or dogs. Birds, reptiles, and rodents are not considered "domesticated" by most cities.

Had a house near us burn down when I was a kid. It was right next to my elem. school, so I knew the kids who lived there. It happened in the middle of the night, and the only thing that saved them was the cat clawing the shit out of them. It went room to room and woke all of them up. Their dog died of smoke inhalation at the front door waiting to be let out.

The only reason a cat get stuck in a tree is cause a dog chased them up it. They won't climb higher than they can get down unless it is out of fear.

If your mom had those dogs and they didn't defend her and their yard, they were pus*y dogs that were not trained correctly or were babied by your mother. Sorry dude, it is a man rule, if your a guy and you own cats without a women having a say so, you are a pansy....palin and simple......you probably have gay tendencies as well.
