yeah no need to diss the 07 cobra cause anyone with a ****ing braincell knows its an expensive ass pos, that weighs too much and only makes 500hp f/i, when will they learn
less weight sleeker body and more displacement > more weight shit box looks and tiny ass motor with a shit s/c on it with the handling performance of a damn dodge 2500 shoulda stuck with the 03/04 cobra design minus the irs rear end, and with a s/c 351 ![]()

for the 2007/8 models, Z06 all the way. Z06 is cheaper and performs at the same level as the viper (I think the viper edged it out in the car and driver test) The viper is definitely cooler if your trying to impress anybody but other car guys, but anyone who knows cars will be much more impressed with a z06. So you can take that $15k and throw it into the vette and absolutely woop the viper, or spend it on hookers.
I liked the original vipers better than the mid 90s vettes though, I don't know where they were performance wise, but I remember thinking the viper was a cool car back then and never thinking that about the vette.

^ you were the one in your previos post to say "the new zo6 will weigh more"
WRONG, IT WEIGHS EVEN LESS THAN THE CURRENT Zo6, it will have a curb weight of 2910 lbs w/ an engine that cranks out 650hp, you do the math. The best current 1/4 mile run by a new Zo6 is 10.8.......another 145hp and less weight should add up to a 9 sec factory 1/4 mile car. Doubt the viper will ever do that.

in any way, i'd rather have more fun than just driving the wheels off the freaking thing so i'd buy a '73 454 Stingray for a third/quarter of the price. invest some more in a better/lighter interior, new but small sound system, overhaul the suspensions/brakes, larger wheels, lighter rims, intake/exhaust and some extra parts to get a bit more power. total: maybe 50k, about 475hp/425ft-lbs 3250lbs classic dailydriver that will be more than just good at the track

In addition to some of the +'s for the Vette so far, I have another.
Starting from when the viper was introduced, the Vette has won more professional races and series championships than the viper.

LOL.....all I have to say about the recent past and current race series cars is
C5R C6R viper cant even touch those and neither can the other super car competitors. Viper has always been playing catch up, or trying to do a "one up", but they always get their teeth blasted out by GM. This new 600hp viper sure does not perform like a 600hp car should, when the current Zo6 can match its performance w/ 95 less hp and less TQ and less of a price tag, it's a simple choice. And the new ZR1 650hp S/C'ed vette due out in 2008 will punish whatever dodge can think up w/ the viper. All you need on the 2008 model is a pulley swap, LT headers, tuning and you will have over 800hp in a 2910lb car......doubt there will many cars to touch that performance wise or price wise for what you get.

Also sidenote on ZR1: not sure where I read it, but supposedly Chevrolet is trying to implement some of the same software the Ferrari 599 Foriano uses to get all that power to the ground in a reasonable manner.
think about this: 650hp WITH perfect launch = untouchable. It is kinda too bad for viper that they intended to stomp the z06 with its new 600hp '08, but instead reviewers still prefer the z06. Oh well, theres always next year. However, I do like the looks of the viper and those gaudy side pipes.
