understandable. each has thier place as far as daily driving vs. enthusiast driving. I cant bash either because both have amazing examples of astonashing cars as well as huge piles of rusted shit buckets. SHIT BUCKETS FTW!

that import vs domestic stuff is pointless
every country makes good and bad cars, and besides alot of so called "imports" are domestic, I mean, most of toyotas on sale in the US and Hondas are specific for the US market and design and built by americans. Acuras only exist in the US, infinitys too, Lexus only started to be available in Japan in 2005.

Different tools for different jobs. If I lived in germany, Id pick a german car that was designed for high speed cruising (i.e. highway gearing) rather than acceleration. If I lived in Japan, or any other country that has taxes based on displacement, Id want a high revving, small displacement car that wrung out every bit of hp/litre. However, I live in North America where gas is still relatively cheap, no limits on displacement, wide open highways etc. The imports I can afford are not tailored for the things I like to do with my cars and the ones that are suitable are out of my price range. So its domestic for me.

good analysis, bottlefed! but imo gas is one of the things that the consumer pays the same for all across the globe (the pricing may be diff but the burden one pays is the same. get it?)
i've no preference but i believe a car company should be flexible to survive globalization and the current trends. 10 yrs from now, if ford and gm and chrysler can't keep up with the japanese, they would perish or be taken over. let the market decide. our preferences for it will not save a company from extinction ![]()

i've found out that having a older truck makes things a lot easier... from the engine to the body work.... engine is open... huge place to work on standard and hardly any electronics to fuk up.... as for the body... easy to get the body lines and easy to take things off... i would have to go with older domestic....
then agian some imports do surprise the hell out of me...

Well I grew up watching a lot of circuit racing. Group C and Group A touring cars and this is what made my decision. The fastest cars (not necessarily dominant though) were the "imports"/turbo cars. Rules kept changing until all turbo cars were banned, then all cars except the 'domestics'.
Imports for me.... (mostly) But make no mistake, I love a good v8. We currently have two XB Falcon coupes. One is a current project the other a future project (genuine Goss Special). For those that don't know these are what the Mad Max car was based on. 351 Clevo powered!
