That's sick, I thought about buying a pt turbo and putting all the skittle parts on it, and still get insanely cheap insurance.

I can see it doing that on stock internals. Usually, a car manufacturer will select engine parts to meet projected power outputs + a certain variance but nothing more (to avoid costs). Word is that dodge was running short on development time, so they overspec'd the engine to avoid potential problems and cut r&d time -> which sounds like a pretty good trade off b/c this isnt exactly a high volume car where a couple bucks more per engine results in huge numbers over thousands of cars.
Those srt-4's have really strong bottom ends from the factory: closed deck, iron block. The stock crank was run at over 1000 hp in the srt-4 that broke the record for fastest 4 cylinder car at bonneville salt flats. Forged connecting rods, etc etc. |
