those cars are awesome with 490hp launching that car to 60 in 4 seconds on a 4.3 liter V8. not bad but it cost way too much for me.

Uh, no. It costs a lot to built a Ferrari. It's not like it costs $75,000 to build and they just jack up the price.

you think with todays technology cars can be built cheaper, no matter what they are. i mean back in the 60s Ferraris werent no 300 grand, they were only less than 50k, im not sure but i know they have gone up in price like all other cars, but it doesnt cost that much more to build them. its just that they are in high demand and the more they sell the more they'll ask for them. its all inflation.

No. Not at all.

The amount of development time (wind tunnel testing, analysis, etc) and the cost of completely hand building something out of the world's most exotic materials is the reason it costs so much.

You guys who think they just mark it up know nothing about the cars.

Seriously, Verruckt is dead on with this one. The reason Ferraris didn't cost 300Gs in the 70 was because........it was the 70s!! Gas was like $0.50/gallon, everything was cheap in relation to inflation. A car that is built by hand and not by an assembly line is always gonna cost more (with the exception of kit cars, I know some smart-ass would try to chime in with that). Carbon fiber, aluminum, rare leather, racing technology, it all adds up, you're definitely not just paying for the name. Shit, even the interior is worth more than most of our cars. Pinafarina uses exquisite leather and hand stitches everything. It's kind of like buying a top-of-the-line Armani suit, you're not paying so much for the name as for the way it's carefully hand-crafted out of fine textile. Take the Enzo, for example: They did years of testing and tuning, using race-inspired technology in the development of their powerplant. Justly, the motor itself is worth $200,000!! The ceramic brakes are worth $24,000 alone. In the end, you do end up paying for the name itself (consider yourself priviledged to be paying for the name, the history, the prestige), but it's equal to very little when you take into consideration the cost, time and labor of building one of these automobiles.
