Ok. heres the deal: Hennessey got tired of just tuning Vipers and set out to make their own supercar using the Viper engine. So far so good, and it promised to realese a render of what the car will be.

And here it is, the New Hennessey Venom GT is a LOTUS ELISE GT1!!!

So that means that the Lotus Elise chassis is aparently going to support the big Viper V10. Is that possible?

Well yes, let me explain: back in 1996/97 Lotus decided to race in the GT1 category against McLaren, Porsche and Merc and built the outrageous Elise GT1 powered by a Chevrolet ZR1 engine. And the car failed, and suffered from many reliability issue in the engine and transmission, so Lotus quit the series.

But one of the drivers of their cars, Mike Henzemanns felt that the only problem with the car was its power and aerodynamics, so he bought 2 Elises GT1 took them to german company Bitter and fitted a Viper V10 race engien from the GT2 class and became the Bitter GT1.

So what Hennessey is doing is:

-Takes the Elise GT1 chassis
-Does the changes the Bitter did to the car
-Fits one of his engines, instead of a race spec V10
-Puts the newer Lotus Exige look on the car
-Puts his badges and takes the credits...

I have to say, brilliant, because most US buyer have no idea of the Elise GT1 or this story behind it.

remember that guy who had 400hp at the wheel of his exige but couldnt hook it until high speeds made enough downforce. imagine 650+...

I'm willing to bet that the price will be sky high into the 6 figure + range, and for that they better deliver that shit to the south freakin pole if you ask them to.

Yeah I'd bet half a mil because I think their top Viper is like 200k

Well the 2 planned concept cars don't come out till 2009 so it will be a long wait for pricing info.
