Check out this comparison i just noticed:

GT-R: 480 hp @ 6,800 rpm. 430 lb-ft torque @ 3,200–5,200 rpm.(note the rpm range... not even heard of in a porsche carrera GT, which has 435 ft lb @ at a high 5,750 rpm as we all know(true car enthusiasts), torque means nothing unless it's reached at low rpm's...

Ferrari F40: 478 bhp 426 ft lbs @ 4000 rpm, same 0-60 time as the gtr (3.5 s)


Corvette Z06: nearly twice the displacement with a 7.0L and 475 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm 475 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm (only 50+ lb-ft than the GT-R)

r34dude, displacement isn't everything when it comes to torque. have you noticed how the corvettes block arent tall. i may be wrong but thats cuz of a short stroke and smaller crank shaft = the lower torque figures for total displacement. in return it helps having a longer life for most of the drivetrain parts and especially the clutch. anymore torque would mean that you'd be looking at high performance parts, much more $$$, constant care and the bottom line is it wouldn't be suited for daily driving. well except for rico... and me... we like heavy drinking hoes

It's true the vette has 2 x the displacement, but it is an untaped platform, whereas the new gtr has twin turbo. Once you put forced induction into the picture, displacement goes out the window. RPM performance in garner NC has done a S/C'ed version of the C6 Zo6 and w/ 12 pounds of boost on pump gas it put out 850rwhp, on 18 lbs of boost and race gas it was 1078rwhp.....how much would it take to get that TT gtr to over 1000 rwhp?? ON stock internals??

Don't get me wrong, this is a huge step for nissan, props to them. But the price of this car will make it a dream, as was the last ones, for most people. I have heard that w/ dealer mark-ups, you wont see this car for less than $60,000 here in the USA. Not to mention the production #'s will be limited in the USA, therefor the dealers will have a hayday w/ price jacking.

I'll be looking forward to putting the smack down on the 1st one i see, it's a very worthy car to race, it's numbers are killer so far, let's see if they hold up to the hype.
