A guy I know is entering the GRM "Ultimate Track Car Challenge" with his "camaro". Well, its not really fair to call it a camaro... its a tube frame chassis with a 4th gen camaro body.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The specs: 1997 Chevrolet Camaro body by Derhaag. Tube frame, sla+c/o front, 4-link+under pumpkin watts+c/o rear. SBC (18deg cnc, jesel), Tilton, Jerico, 9". Well over 600 lbs and 2100 pounds wet (no driver). 16" radial slicks, 12.5" and 14" wide on 12" and 13" wide wheels. 6 piston calipers on 13" rotors both front and rear. Im interested to see how he does against the ariel atom. |

Have to say I'm not sure about the look of it but function over form is what it 'should' always be about imo! Loving it!
As for the Ariel Atom... well I guess it'll depend on the conditions and the driver! What they need is a West thrown in the mix! West Race Cars or a Saker like my mate is building. Saker Cars Australia Home I'll post pics of his car when I allowed to- still to be unveiled for the Autralian Thundersports category to race against the Wests and other sportscars.

The ariel should do pretty good. They are fielding the supercharged ecotec with 240ish hp. But its not going to be very aerodynamic and VIR has some decent straights on it.
The radical would be nice to see as well. The selection process isnt over yet so theres still a chance that an owner might put one into the competition. Quote:

Scratcher VIR Test - Flyby
Video from the shakedown test. The owner pulled some data logs and it runs 60-120 mph in 5.1 seconds on conservative tune. For comparison sake, a C6 Z06 takes 7.4 seconds. By the time a Z06 gets to 120, this car will be at 140 mph. |
