most F1 cars run on Methanol IIRC and the HiPo dragracers (the ones with 1000+hp) here in the states run NitroMethane

Dakar has alot of diesel powered vehicles and VW had a Bora that was TDI powered in the DTM

Over here in the states there are a few people running diesels in Rally also and of course SCORE/DIRT events have a few hummers running also including in the Baja 1000

And speaking of Rally the Rally America Pro/club rally rulebook states alot about diesels and the loosness of the said rules

F1 cars run normal gasoline not that much different than what we use at the pump.
