i shall end the toronado thing on this note the power from the big block went to the front tires via chain big block + front drive = bad BB + FWD + chain drive = GM engineers should have killed themselves out of mortal shame lol Jay Leno did it right .................. that is the last word

Just think of how many manufacturers are building rear wheel v-8 powered sport coupes.Ford has the Mustang. The limping home General has the G.T.O..Along with a very VERY few import companies.I cant see Daimler Chrysler risking it on this car.(dont count the Viper,Vette,GT they are considered "premium" sport coupes.)

I should say that my respect for the Toronado stems more from aesthetics than design. If I were to get a '66 Toro, (which might happen soon) I'd covert it to AWD, not RWD as Leno did.
BTW Traction, If the sixties were dark days for GM, when were the light? |

trust me i have owned my share or maybe mine and alot of others share of gm heavy metal gm cars, but now i'm floating with the ford camp but as long as it is a domestic v8 rear wheel drive car i'm all for it. i right now own ford and gm and mopar cars. but the ford is my baby.

Well, the '66 Toronado is the only FWD car I even remotely like that I can think of at the moment. as far as this new Challenger goes, I must clarify that I would despise the thing if it was anything but RWD.
Also, I currently own two Ford's and two GM's, so I have seen how they hold up and whatnot, and I have observed that Fords generally cost more to maintain/modify and vary greatly quality wise depending on the price bracket your car is from whereas most GM's do not. That's just my experience, however. |

Meh who cares.. the Tornado wasnt no Chrysler lol!!!
But um.. How can it look like a caddy from the back... All caddys have long vertical lights (most of them) going down the sides....

Oh yeah, and the 6.1 could easily be made FWD, wasn't the Olds Toranado a 7.0? EDIT! After reading the article carefully, they sid its based off of the 300C/Magnum?Charger platform, so that means its RWD Last edited by Matt2; 23 Nov 2005 at 03:29 am. |
