Why do people running street tires do burnouts right before a race?

sometimes it does help, such as getting rocks off the tires or some people do use Drag radials

A little burnout on street radials is good for drag racing, long burnouts on street radials is not good for racing. Drag radials it is recomended to do a decent sized burnout with them your very first time warming them up then do mild burnouts with them from then on. And drag slicks it is recomended to do a decent sized burnout but not to go to large as they tend to get soupie if you go to long (same as drag radials and street tires).

^^^^^That too.

The Bimmer had slicks and spun that much out of the hole?? What kind of suspension does he have, and what was the tire pressure in the rears??

in the 1st vid (bmw vs gtp vs dsm) hes on slicks in the other one hes on street tires.... he hooks perfect matter of fact i could probly dig up a few pix of him actually pulling the front tires off the ground... i think most of the tire marks that u saw while he went through 1st gear was juz dead tire from his burnout... he did a huge burnout in a parking lot when he 1st got his line lock then as he drove away he left a tire trail
