doubt it was a C6Z, or maybe an 85 year old man driving it.

well the C6 Z06 runs between 11.7 and 12.4 depending on the driver.

The new E60 M5 runs between a 12.3 and 12.4(Because of the SMG)

They are both great cars, both are fast all round.

Default i find it hard to believe that was a c6 z06 ..

not a z06 ..possibly a C6 LS2 ...the guy in the bmw was a far greater driver than the guy in the corvette...on the corvette forums stock z06s have been quatermiled and trapped at 123+mph at 11.55 and such.

here are some runs of a z06 on drag radials only drag radials

11.38 at 125.37 on a 1.81 60'
11.36 at 124.36 on a 1.75 60'
11.28 at 125.62 on a 1.75 60'
11.20 at 125.69 on a 1.73 60'

Quote:
Lot of good comments from the spectators and racers about the amazing times a bone-stock 2006 Z06 is making on DRs [Comments that I wish I could do just to] And that sentiment was reinforced by another VR C6Z [York, PA-based] bone stock on STOCK TIRES that ran two passes, 11.99 and 11.55. His mph was 125 on each pass, same as mine. Nice guy fine driver and experience racer making his first two passes in his C6Z. So my estimate of 11.25-11.35 bone stock on stock tires seemed nearly achievable by that guy today were it not for the wind in his face.
-above quote was taken from the corvette forums by Ranger...

There is no way that was a z06..we are talking about a car that had a best-time in the top 5 in Nurinburg (sp) ...and here we have an m5 that weighs over 800lbs on a z06 passing it on a straight away...

Lets see c6-z06 505hp @ 475 ft/lbs ..BMW m5 500hp @ 384 ft/lbs
C6-Z06 31xx pounds ---------------Bmw M5 403x Pounds..thats a big difference givne the m5 lack of torque as well.

Not happening not by a long shot..not trying to start shit...but theres no way that was a z06 or either it was one horribly ridden z06..either or make ur pick

what does age have to do with it??

its called lack of experience or even lack of modifications..

maybe the bmw hada few things done to it...or the guy in the vette wasn't as experienced in the driving as the guy in the bmw..

anyhow...

yeah, i think the vette wasnt being pushed. barely hit any apexes and had crappy lines. obviously the car was just cruisin around and the bmw was going at a decent pace.

Racing in a track is different than racing quarter-miles, the better all-around car prevails. Why would the title lie? A few seconds in 1/4 difference is not an issue in a race track.

The M5 pulls over 500 horses so in a track and high end speeds it is capable, its not like you are comparing a Honda to a Corvette to make it unbelievable.

Now both cars are very respectable, but in defense of the vette if anyone with eyes watches that video its clear that vette was not on it. I mean if it would have accelerated out of the corner i think it would have kept up with the bmw if not stayed ahead.

so i pose a simple question ...if the bmw is superior in handling ..why hasnt the m5 ranked within the top 5 at the nurinburg track...and the vette z06 has?

oh here is a track time for the non z06 and z06 model

8:22 - E46 M3
8:15 - BMW Z8
8:13 - Ferrari F355
8:09 - Ferrari F360
8:09 - Lamborghini Diablo SV
8:09 - Porsche 993 GT2
8:07 - Ferrari 550 Maranello
8:05 - 2002 Ferrari 575 Maranello
7:56 - C6 Corvette (NOT Z06)
7:56 - Porsche 996 GT3 (360HP)
7:56 - Porsche 996 Turbo
7:56 - NSX Type R
7:52 - Lamborghini Murcielago

7:42.99 *to be fair, driven by Jan Magnussen* - C6 Z06 *faster than Pagani Zonda, 996 GT2, Lambo's Gallardo AND Murcielago, and SLR*
-now u see why i have a hard time believing this video ...its very fuzzy and its hard to believe that was a z06 in front of him..couldve been a c6 vette (400hp) *still*...very hard to believe an M5 can easily pass a C6 Z06 which is a purpose built track car

but im willing to admit that the driver had a major part to do in this, and if that was a c6 z06 it was very horribly driven

um has nothing to do with the better car previals...cuz i've taken my civic to a track and we raced around and there was a scubby there that i was passing as if it wasn't even moving...

but my shitvic is slower then a lawnmower with a 300lbs man sitting on it..

if the driver doesn't know how to handle or drive his car doesn't matter if its the fastest car on the track..
