Neither would i but i guess the 1098S is like the Ferrari of the bike world (sorta)
so if you think of it like that its not so bad.
Having said that, a $17000 GSXR1000 will do whatever the Duke does besides
the noise and Street cred so that makes the $35k hard to justify.
Personally id buy a BMW S1000RR and split the difference.

My old boss had a BMW S1000RR that he payed for with the money that me and my manager made him through Junkoff in like 6 months. That job sucked!!!!

Good analogy - just like ferrari's, ducs are expensive, requires lots of maintenance, girls go ga-ga over them, and they are slower than their peers that cost half as much

That said, I had a chance to ride my friend's 848 and 1098S and they really do offer a unique riding experience. I can see the appeal now.

btw. my friend picked up his 1098S (ohlins forks/shock, brembo monoblocks, ram single sided swingarm, marchenesi wheels) used with 5k km's on it for 12K canadian.

Thats a good buy, We get severly ripped down here with new bikes and cars etc though.
