Ford Mustang 5.0 Will Return in 2011

Ford announced today that the 2011 Ford Mustang will once again have a 5.0 liter V8 engine. For Ford fans, the number 5.0 is a reminder of happier times, when the Mustang was the coolest car on the block. The new engine, codenamed Coyote, will be available in the F-150 next year and in the Mustang GT for the 2011 model year. According to MotorAuthority, the engine will make about 400-hp.

The Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro have been in an on-and-off rivalry since the Camaro was released in 1967 as GM’s response to the Mustang’s popularity. In the following years, Ford and Chevy were like the Hatfields and the McCoys.

In 1996 it looked like Ford was giving up on the competition when it got rid of the 302 cubic inch 5.0 liter engine in the Mustang GT in favor of a 215-hp 4.6 liter one, just as Chevy upped the ante with its 275-hp LT1 engine. When the aluminum LS1 found its way to the Camaro, it became clear that if you wanted a pony car, you had to buy a Camaro. The Mustang became a chick car.

i was gona say u dont gain 100hp from .3Ls im guesing almost all of it is all nw, hope it pushrod although the dohc engines sound like sex on wheels

That is a good idea and all, just for the "5.0L marketability", but it is not a push rod motor, then it will be another worthless variation of the N/A 2V 3V crap they have already.

yea im sure there gona sell a shitload of them again just for being 5.0 again, shit ide buy one hahahah. u think its still gona be 3v? i have a feeling it mite be 4 with a 100hp bump unless they just stoped being lazy ****s. i cant wait to see some details

^ I give MAD props to Ford for offering a wide variety of their mustang flag ship car.....but God damn get some N/A affordable power already....sheeesh....It took them how freaking long to get 300 at the crank from that OHC crap. Or they need FI to make any power and that jacks the price along w/ some crusty ass old mans signature under the hood or on the dash.

Make that biotch a damn 5.0L push rod, more aggressive cam profile, trick flow heads, get a throttle body bigger than a damn baby d1ck for once....they need a damn 85mm at minimum, and a cross section intake. Get 375hp for the GT and make an N/A cobra out of a newly made 351W updated version block and give that bish 450hp n/a. You might see me in a ford if they grew the nuts to do that.

I think they should spend less effort trying to come up with the next best thing in engines, and start giving their cars a diet. Get our pony cars back down around 3200lbs, and you won't need 5 liters (although it won't hurt)

i agree they do have alot of stuff to pic from but there base models are shit and most of the upgrades should be how the car comes stock. yea chevy hadd 300hp since what 97, we didnt get it tull 06? hahahha they need to step there game up and stop just trying to re use shit and accauly engineer something totally new. they need to get back in the pushrod game and leave the ohc for a different type of car, it cost to much to replace anythign on them damn things to. a new 302 block made to handle the same power as the ohc would be the ultimate , just used the same materials with a new 302 cast duhhhh

yes they should but i think chevy needs more help in this area , since the quality on most of there shit is already crap besides the engine, wheres the weight coming from. someone needs to mass market carbon fiber and the car game would change completely , assembly would cost less, wouldnt need all the machines and equipment to for iron steal ect and not to mention moving it. , if they put money into cabron fiber development instead of theese worthless hybrids they could change the game and make shit loads off cash in the long run. mpg's and efficiency on everyone about the car would shoot way up. would need less for more
