i know the old skylines were rated at 280hp but obviously the r-34 had more. Some sore of 'gentleman's agreement' b/t japanese car makers to produce only 280hp vehicles. Anyone know the dyno figures on a stock r-34?

Wrong. It was not a law. It was simply an understanding amoung the automakers not to ADVERTISE a car with more than 280 hp. Other examples were the gentleman's agreements among jap bike makers to restrict top speed of bikes to 186mph and the one among german automakers to put speed limiters on all non-sports cars to 155mph. The reason for the agreement is to avoid excessive scrutiny from the gov't or other regulators.

who ever wrote that is wrong in parts. It says that the new nissan runs 11.6's in the 1/4 mile and that the Zo6 can't come close to that...LOL......LMAO..... HA HA HA .....LOL.....LMAO.
The best run by the new Zo6 has been a 10.8....almost a FULL SECOND faster.

and they are not a "slick". I doubt you will even see many here in the USA, they are on a limited number each year for the US and the MSRP is 86,000, after the dealer mark-up you will see 90-95K for that car, not worth it IMO when you can buy a used performance car and build it faster for less than 1/2 the price. Don't get me wrong I'm not hating on it, it is a fast respectable car, but a Zo6 or ZR1 killer it is not, very far from it. It's AWD is good, but it will hinder it at high speed (roll race) and it will get punished by the Zo6 and many other cars on the top end.

There wont be as much ET to be made up with the GTR from more experience behind the wheel. With the launch control software, AWD and and the semi-auto tranny, the difference a driver makes is significantly less than what is possible with high hp, rwd, stick car. The 120 mph trap also limits the potential et gains from more experience (stock).
Not hating.. its a fast car at somewhat affordable pricing but facts are facts. Last edited by BOTLFEDLT1; 20 Dec 2007 at 02:16 pm. |
