Default The Ultra Efficient Car - 157MPG!

German Loremo AG will introduce their ultra Efficient Car at the Motor Show 2006 (site) in Geneva next week.

The car start-up developed a light-weight passenger car with outstanding aerodynamics. The Loremo LS is powered by a 2 cylinder Turbo Diesel engine with 20 hp and 160km/h top speed. The amazing thing is that the Loremo only needs 1.5l per 100km. This is approx. 157MPG!
The Toyota Prius hybrid has only 55MPG (combined city and highway).
With one tank (20l) you could drive 1,300km.

Loremo AG plans to sell the Loremo LS for less than 11,000 Euros (~$13,000).

That's impressing, 157mph... but wait a second... what about safety, comfort, emissions, reliability? I mean safety comes first before all to be released in the US right?, so if it is really light, we're talking about a shell on wheels, is that safe?

so basically its a light car, with a seuped up Racing go cart engine, they get good mpg if tanks were bigger and make about 20hp for the racing go karts.

Back in the early to mid nieties I had an 84 Honda Civic hatch that had a 1.3 liter and a four speed. It even had a blank-out plug over the cigarette lighter! But it routinely got over 50mpg highway and well over 40 in the city. So I dont really get the big deal over the Prius or any of the other hybrids. They are still about the same mpg as an 84 civic.
