With much fanfare, the latest GT-R prototype was released at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show. Based upon a Skyline-style coupe, the GT-R will be released as an Infiniti product in 2007. While the full details have not been released, we can be sure the line will follow in the footsteps of previous GT-R models. It will be a pure-bred Japanese performance car.

Technical specifications are still speculation at this point, but some strong assumptions can be made. The car will utilize the ATESSA-ETS all-wheel-drive system along with all the computer-controlled goodies we are used to in the current generation R34 GT-R. That is pretty much a given. The main question seems to revolve around the motor itself.

From what we have heard, the GT-R will be powered by a VQ-Based 3.7 Liter motor, will utilize twin Garrett turbochargers, a front-mount intercooler, and a 7sp sequential grearbox. Estimated HP is expected in the 450 range.

Price for this beast is estimated in the $70k range.

yep, also assumed that the turbos will be electronically aided for faster spool

Nissan has already pulled those pics from their website and are doing yet ANOTHER facelift...

And yes the turboes are made by IHI and are electic assist. Not for faster spool, but to maintain spool on gear changes. The AWD is also Electric on the front...

Watch, when it comes out, it'll be 150k, have RWD, and a VK45 v8 strait from the M45 with a 4 speed auto

:mecry: To many assumptions and expectations. BMI said they may not even go with AWD on the new one since the chassis can actually handle higher power a lot better. And aren't the japanese trying to move away from turbo's?

I wouldn't get to excited about the car till they announce something, other than the styling.
