Default 2006 Ford Mustang Saleen S281

Steve Saleen, an automotive entrepreneur among the ranks of Jack Roush and Carrol Shelby, has created some of the most powerfully equppied, styled, and performing Mustangs in history. Saleen graduated from the University of Southern California with a business degree, he later raced cars, and in 1984, started the company Saleen Autosport. His ultimate goal was to create performance cars with increased aesthetic styling, suspension performance, and drivetrain improvements. One of Saleen's project cars was a Ford Mustang in 1984. Over the years, Saleen has built a reputable business and personal name, cars, and competitve pricing. It would be hard for Mr. Saleen to top his 2005 Saleen Mustang, weighing in at 3550lbs. and rated at 400hp, and 420lbs./ft tq. from the supercharged 4.6L V8 platform. Well, he did!

The new 2006 Saleen Mustang is based off of the same engine and drivetrain as the 2005, but this supercharged, 3-valve V8 is pushed up to 435hp. Saleen said this increase of 35hp over the supercharged 2005 model is somewhat matched by his increase of 5hp over the 2005 N/A model, a SOHC pushed from 330hp to 335hp. The supercharged model is said to be stickered at just over $51,000 and the N/A model will be at just over $42,000. Along with the Racecraft Suspension, Saleen includes a convertible model at nearly $56,000 and the all-new "cool tops" line. The Saleen cool tops cars include a Saleen Speedster with a tonneau cover and sport bar (much like sn95 models), and a Saleen Scenic Roof is avaliable too, with a panaramic, moonroof extending the entire roof of the car, from windshield to windshield. The Scenic Roof line is said to be debuted in January 2006 as a 2006 model.

I was at Ford last week lokking at one. And Im sorry to say, I dont like it. And the wheels they picked dont work with the car at all. I love mustangs, but Saleen has just run away with there prices. You are starting to pay for the name and not performance. I would rather pay a little more and get a new ZO6. THE PRICES ON SALEENS ARE JUST S-T-U-P-I-D ! ! ! ! !
