mmm... nice write up
*edit i did a quick internet search and it seems that you simply multiply the stroke X crankshaft speed X .166 to get mean piston speed in ft/min. also check out this calculator which does the numbers for you. http://www.csgnetwork.com/pistonspeedcalc.html

the 2.0L s2000 pistons should do 4960ft/min or 25.2m/s
my ka24de with 170k miles should do 4343ft/min or 22m/s so i think the chart you posted is very pesimistic Darkness

It's too bad us canadians won't get that cool steering wheel, but we do get 2 deep cupholders.

The "old" 2.0 liter S2000 had an 83.8 mm stroke and a 9,000 RPM maximum rev limit. Convert the stroke to meters and you get 0.0838 meters. Multiply by 9,000 RPM and by 2 (two strokes per revolution) to get 25.14 m/s. This rounds down to 25.1 m/s. Work the same math out with the RS4's 8,250 RPM rev limit and 92.8 mm stoke and you get 25.52 m/s. |
