To whom that may be affiliated with Tremek,
First of all, congratulations on starting a great looking site. Yes I know starting a site is hard, especially a forum, so I have a few suggestions to help you out. Think of it as the view from the outside.
I think the major factor that is impeding the expansion of the site is that so far it’s a one-way-business. That is to say, you are working overtime to offer people your great amount of quality resources, and asking nothing in return for your hard work. This, as you have probably noticed, is not turning out well. Placing a few links is not going to generate a hot bet of conversation. So far, to me, it does not feel like a forum, but a fancied up collection of links. I have put some thought into your situation and came up with a few possible solutions after I viewed the announcement that you made.
First, instead of posting a link every time, why not post a question, or a request of some sort, therefore giving your current 88 members something to think about as they browse the web. Let them take a bit of responsibility. Once there are enough questions, people will inevitably start to answer them, as I am doing right now. Also, others will feel more at ease when posting a question, knowing eventually their request will be filled. This keeps everyone active and your site will become a tool of acquiring information, rather than a plain source of information.
Secondly, you must give people the sense of power and responsibility. This obviously does not mean you have to give them real power. You can achieve this simply by making other people moderators and giving a select few a little editing power. Once a moderator, they will no doubt check back to your site constantly and recruit members because they want more people to boss around. Who doesn’t?
Of course a main problem now is still getting members. I, personally would suggest adding a few sections with premium, full length videos that one must be a member to view. I guarantee you, if you have a catchy enough title and an equally appealing screen shot, membership will rise quickly. Asking your members to advertise for you is a good idea, but most wont, because why would one advertise for you if they can get the service from another forum and risk being banned?
Maybe you should advertise your site somewhere. If funding is short, you can always exchange-advertise, for example, your can advertise my turbolimo site and in return, I’ll advertise yours. Mine is nowhere near what you have here, but it’s does get about a decent thousand hits a day. Plus I made it over one weekend, thereby explaining the ugliness.
Also, I have noticed a big hit in all forums is the photoshop gallery. People regularly show off their work there, mainly because it’s their only way of getting their work out to the public. Then once in a while you can have contest.
Lastly, if all fails, you can have a few different accounts on your site and start posting under those names because if you post all those threads under the administrator’s account, it makes you look very desperate and this site pathetic. And remember to post some requests, because that is what gets people thinking and most importantly replying.
Well, those are just some quick ideas I had for you. I sincerely wish your site grows to something a lot bigger and more prosperous because it has the potential definitely.
Keep up the good work.
A well-wishing member
