Actually there is, when you get to drive a powerfull car and want to shift fast without upseting the driveline and spin the tires. It takes a speed and smoothness to do it. Powershifting is also hard for some peeps to do, shifting without clutch is another way of shifting, so.... yeah there is a certain amount of skill involved!!!
