Pretty sure the diesel you're hearing is coming from behind the camera. Notice how the revs are very low and dont change, despite the fact that the car is driving around. There's another car idling behind the camera.
Suzuki never made a diesel samurai, so even if you're right, it would have to be some other engine installed.
But as it's pulling out of the water, you can hear it revving, and it sounds like a normal petrol engine to me.
