I've always been fascinated by the Dakar (Paris-Dakar) rally...especially the semi truck classes. For those who don't know the rally, read about it here. The Russian team, Kamaz, has won the past 5 years in a row in the truck class.

The action is very impressive. The huge trucks with over 750 horsepower/2000 ft-lbs are capable of over 100 mph off road and are basically unstoppable.

Here is a 30 minute video highlighting Kamaz at the rally since 1996. Warning though, the narration is loosely translated from Russian and the lady has quite an accent.

yea i used to love watching it here in the states but for some dumbass reason they took it away i think they pass it on oln tho

Damn 730 hp at 2500 rpms and 2700 ft/lbs of torque, that thing must be so much fun to drive.

Yeah, I love them. But back in the late 80´s/early 90´s there was a sort of Gr.B Trucks like DAF´s with twin engines and stuff. I still remember a works Mitsubishi prototype being overtaken by a DAF 95 in a straight (!!!), being filmed by a helicopter.

Its one of the most amazing sights I ever saw in motorsports, that sheer brute power passing over the Mitsubishi who was fighting for overall victory...
