As for the H2 (tahoe) and H3 (trailblazer) they are the two biggest disgraces to the hummer name to ever exist. I hate both with a passion and when you want to see jeep vs. hummer vids or the other way around, it mostly comes down to driver, but keep those the same of course the jeep will stomp the "hummer" any day of the week, not hard to see why. Attempting to use the hummer name for comparison purposes when focusing around H2's and H3's is hardly worth it as very few people I can think of would actually consider comparing a jeep to an H1... totally different vehicles, for different purposes, in different classes. |

when I was in the Marines we drove the humvee all the time. The slantback hard top version was/is my favorite. We went to the desert training areas outside of 29 palms california and we actually found something that we thought was a type of quicksand. Basically an underground river made a slow leak to the surface and we drove that humvee in and out of that swampy sand hole a dozen times w/ out getting stuck. During the training to drive the humvees we had to go through water areas w/ 5 ft. deep water, the military hummer has a fording kit that blocks water out of the engine and uses a snorkle for breathing, and we still did not get stuck. We even tried our hardest to high center the damn thing and we couldn't do it. Trust me, they are not comfortable at all compared to the civilian version, but the military version is not going to get stuck easily. Since the addition of 1/2 inch plate steel armor and bullet proof glass the weight has increased dramatically. They are now outfitting the latest humvees w/ a rather large turbo on an already powerfull diesel motor. We had our humvee rolling across the desert at 65 mph w/ 5 troops, gear and packs, weapons, extra fuel cans, water canisters and radio equipment.....so yeah, they can move for what they are I guess.
