Of course it was the snorkel that kept it going. Chances are, though alot of other lesser vehicles would have been bogged down by all the water and slushy sand or mud at the bottom. When this thing first went in, the back end was floating for a while.
Also, just because it has a snorkel, doesn't mean it'll take any amount of water. I've seen other vehicles with snorkels in much less water that cant get out.
