Hear are some photos of a carrera gt that had to be torn apart to get to a stupid wire that had a bad crimp from the factory. The monocoque bolts together right behind the passenger compartment. Most all true supercars are built this way, and most le mans type race cars. They are bulit this way for a few reasons; in the event of an accident the rear end of the chassis(including the engine, trans, and diff) will tear off and the passenger compartment will continue on with less inertia due to the loss of the mass, the mass being the heavier part of the car. For race cars it makes it easy to make quick repairs to a heavily damaged car by being able to replace literally either half the car.
These pictures are hard to come by and it's rare to see a car of this caliber torn apart like this, so enjoy!
The split

just blots right together, simple stuff
The little bastard orange wire that was crimped by a german douchebag and caused the $15,000+ problem
the engine bay and chassis exposed

check out the battery location way down low right behind the passenger compartment, good for a low center of gravity

the a/c condenser looks like a radiator, but the radiators are up front, three of them
Carbon wheelwells too!!! they spared no expense on this car
the rarely seen front upper coilover mount

the lower coilover mount is connected to the arm in the center, the suspension is horizontal just like the back.

rear coils
Undercarriage

nice thick weave carbon on the skidplates

rear undercarriage
same e-brake setup as a 944
all the parts that had to come off, basically the whole rear end of the car
I'll try to get some video of it tomorrow.
