Default Fitti-Volks 3200 - A Bug faster than a GT40

Built by the famous Fittipaldi brothers and their team to enter the "free force" class in Brazil, its a twin engined Bug special capabable of keeping up with the Lola T70s!!!

2 VW 1.6 flat 4s later bored and stroked to 2.2 liter each - 4.4l - were join together with a Guibo connection, running on methanol producing 400hp, fitted with a Porsche gearbox from a 550Spyder its fiberglass body only weighted 17kilos and the whole car only 420kg wich makes up for almost 1 to 1 power-to-weight ratio!!!

Front suspension was Porsche type and in the rear a sort of Formula V (
a sort of formula cars popular in the 60s with VW power) setup, and this was possible because the rear ended up being a tube frame struture to carry both engines and the custom suspension

But altough the car proved incredibly fast, matching and beating the more advanced Alfa Romeo 33, Ford GT40 and Lola T70 it was unreliable, and in fact it came about has as a temporary solution while their other specail -the Alfa Romeo F4 - wasnt finish. After that the car was sold and was modified exposed, disapeared, until it resurficed a few years back and was restored. The Fittipaldi brothers and their main mecanic and responsible for this car Ricardo Dávila went to Europe to race here, and eventually win the Formula 1 championship. As a curiosity, Dávila was the responsible for the Nissan Skyline GTR for the JGTC and is still head of the Super GT GT500 operations.
