Default Re: Cobalt vs. a E46 M3

Due to the S2000's powerband, most drivers will find its a bog or spin sort of deal and it takes a good driver to get sub 2.0's out of them. Its not a given that its going to get a huge lead over a cobalt simply b/c its rwd. What is a given, however, is the fact that a lightly modded cobalt is going to freight train a stock or i/e s2000 once its moving. You are talking about a difference of up to 10 mph in traps, given the real world traps a stock s2000 is putting out. The cobalt would have still passed that s2000 by the end of the race even if it did launch "properly".

They both weight 2800 lbs. S2000 makes 195 rwhp/125rwtq vs 250whp/215wtq

Rwd in this case isnt enough to overcome the hp/tq advantage.

Power/weight comparison with m3: 11.8 lbs/hp vs 11.2 lbs/hp for cobalt (assuming 250 whp), Of course gearing comes into play, but based on the power to weight, you can readily see that it will hang with the all mighty e46... which only trap mid 100's.

This was when I had 122whp (previous owner never tightened the spark plugs). Oh, and I DON'T launch well, yet still yanked 3 cars from the dig.
