OK heres some facts for ya my friend, when i said performance oriented i ment the handling. In a straight line i have to hand it to MBZ as a stock car, there insane ! I drove more than my fair share of MBZ's but i didnt have the opportunity to drive a Cobra, hence ill take your word for it, i deffinetly agree on the handling of the cobra, never the less i think if you take both to a track the Cobra will give the massively over powered Benz a run for there money ! just to be clear im talking about the CL65 here !
To clarify my point further,lets compare a SL55 and a SL65, on a track, Braking, acceleration, handling, time,...... Almost the same, but the 65 has a ton and a hlf more Torque, 100 more HP , 1 more Kompressor (Twin Turbo Vs. Kompressor) 4 more cylinders, and costs a boat load of cash over the 55 ! WHY, for WHAT ?
I would rather buy a Lamborghini, a Ferrari, or a Bently for that sort of money, interms of anything those cars are ate a higher level, so whats the use of all that power in a Benz >? where is the performance handling/braking your talking about compared to those ????
Braking???? HOW BIG WERE THOSE brakes ???? 15.4 inches thats larger than the wheels of a MBZ 7 years ago ! and only a few feet shorter of a Mustang...... HUH ! 8 PISTON CALIPERS, some racing cars dont have that many ! ALL THAT FOR A FEW FEET !
In the end i would like to say that if i had to pick between the 2 id pick the Merc. But my oppinion is that if a car costs as much as a house, i wouldnt like the feeling of a car that costs less than a garage to rub dust on my face, even in a boring, like most real life situations would be, straight line ! THATS ALL.
