Thankx alot for the info.

I think that i am going to go the 2.0i 16V route.

I can get a lot more power out of the 2.0i than the 1.4i. If i had to turbo my 1.4i i would say that i would get around 150 hp (111 kw) safely and 200 hp ( 149 kw) not so safe.

But with a 2.0i i can get safely 200hp ( 149kw) and crazy big power 300hp+ ( 223Kw) and still drive her around.

So im going to go the 2.0i route.

Sorry for the KW figures. We work in KW here in South Africa. LOL

We have a lot of fast little MK1's here in SA.

The guys on average with there 2.0i 16V motors have between 295hp (220KW) and 402hp ( 300Kw) on the wheels here.

There is a golf MK1 that has the record for the highest KW for a golf. It has 552 hp (412kw) on the wheels!!!, but has never had a run yet. SCARY!
