Forget the RB. As mentioned it is far to long to be done easily. I would go for the CA18 (just because it is my personal preference). SR's and CA's have been done plenty so it won't be to complicated. Another option is the FJ20 which is a very well proven, tough as nails motor. The only problem is that they are getting on in age a bit.
One day I'd like to build a decent L series. Even these can make quite reasonable power- more than enough for drifting imo. I know that you can get an L20 out to ~2.4 litres using other Datsun gear and iirc, Mitsubishi pistons. I'd have to research more on this as I can't quite remember. This is what I want to do to my 510/1600 when I get the time and money...perhaps it will never happen- I've got to many projects!
And another thing, nothing will sound as tough as a full house L series running twin Webers or quad throttle bodies....something to think about!
