use a wreck as an example, when your insurance company closes the record for an accident that you were found to be at FAULT, on that day and only that day will the insurance company start the time. if it takes the insurance company a year to settle a claim and close the record, then a year from when you had had the wreck is when the five years will start. depending on your insurance company, the premium for your policy should stay the same until either it is renewed or the record has been closed. either way, sell the lancer, what is that anyway, and get a decent vehicle that will be easy on your wallet for the next year or two. you might have to be seen ride'n dirty in a four door. don't worry you want be the only one being laughed at, there are plenty of SRt-4s out there. as an adult you have to ask yourself, how you got where you are now? i might pick at you about the car, but i almost got where you are at now. my insurance was more than the car payment, i sold the car and got something cheap. i learned my lesson the hard way just like you must learn yours. good luck.
P.S. if you plan on sticking with the same insurance company, from this date on, get everything in writing, ask them to send you a letter stating that the color red doesn't increase you insurance payment, that will freak'em out. your lancer is red, right?
