He pretty much payed that much because Carroll shelby (present at Barret Jackson), wanted to donate the money to some charity. the car would be signed personally by him, and the owner would be brought to the factory to see the car being built and painted to his favorite color.
something like that... So who knows maybe in 20 years the car will be worth more...
