Well the subject of crankwalk may be some what of an opinion matter. I'm just simply stating facts from my experiences and observations. I've been dabbling in dsm's for over 8 years now. I owned 9 dsm's all together. All but one had a 420n/t engine and, the rest of them having 4g63t 7bolt engines. Starting from the early 93's all the way to the late 2nd gens. I have also worked at a mitsubishi dealership a few years ago as a parts salesman/mechanic for two years. In the two years of working there i have never encountered a single 4g63t dsm with crankwalk. Nor have i heard talk of such. I've only encountered crankwalk once on separate occasion where the vehicle had very high mileage along with many other major problems. I'm also basing my coments of crankwalk on the dsm community that i'm part of. It just doesn't happen anywhere near as often as some say it does. Anyway yes the 7bolt 4g63t engines are weaker than the 6 bolts but, not by much. The 6 bolt engine's has it's advantages such as stronger block, better flowing oil journals and, squirter, stronger rods, 1mm higher lift on the cam shafts, ect..... But it also has its disadvantages such as weaker pistons, velocity stacks aren't to great, the over sized head intake ports are to low and to big ect..... The problem is that alot of people fail to install proper supporting modifications when modifying their engines. Such as the guy in the video. Then they end up destroying their engine and blame every thing but, them selves.
The 4g63t engines are one of the strongest 4 cylinder engines out there. They have been in production for over 17 years now. Starting from their first use in gvr4 galants to dsm's to evo's. The 4g63t engine has been and still remains a serious contenders in the sport of Rallying. Thats why it still remains a 2.0L to comply with the regulations of Ralling. The 4g63t engine hasn't changed much from its old 6 bolt days. That it still uses the same engine code name 4g63t. The point is that 4g63t engine's didnt come thus far by being a pile of sh!t as mentioned. The 4g63t engine has proven it self by being a serious contender on the street as well as the track. By people such as John Shepherd, buschur racing and, many other dsm enthusiast such as my self. Anyway i'm not here to convince anyone of anything as everyone is entitled to his or her's opinion.
