The 24V is a revised version of the 12V VR6 motor. They basically doubled the valve-train, raised the compression and changed the intake manifold runners a little bit to produce more torque, among other things. If I remember correctly, you live somewhere in the middle-east {Passat_V6} (AE, or somewhere close to that), there's a chance that you may have an Audi 30V 3.0L motor in that thing, but if it's only 174 hp, you might have been misinformed about your "30V status". 174 HP out of a 2.8L motor points a finger at the 12V VR6 motor. Someone might have just been feeding you crap about having 30Vs. 174 is the stock crank HP of a 12V 2.8L VR6 motor circa 1992-2002.5 for most VWs (with a few exceptions, i.e.: the 2.9L 12V Driver's Edition Corrado). I'm pretty sure the Audi version 3.0 30V makes 225 stock crank HP, just to give you an example. I'd like to thank rdyinturbo for postiong this vid, seeing as it's very rare I get to hear my car with exhaust from the outside........I watch this vid almost every night just before I go to sleep, to remind me of the sweet sound my car makes when it takes off!!
